Static QR Codes: Pros and Cons

Table of Contents

What Is a Static QR Code?

A static QR code contains fixed data. Once created, you cannot change the destination without generating and printing a new code.

Pros

  • Often free
  • Easy to create
  • Good for permanent destinations
  • No advanced setup needed

Cons

  • Cannot be edited
  • No built-in analytics
  • Harder to manage at scale
  • Risky for printed campaigns if something changes

When to Use One

Static QR codes are fine for simple, stable links. If your campaign, offer, or page may change, dynamic QR codes are usually a better choice.
